Small Silver Initial Ring

This ring was created as a first customer appreciation. A little over 6 years ago I made my first couple rings. They were very simple, a copper wire with the head of a nail for a design. At the time I didn't realize how that could be an issue. I posted about them and one of my friends immediately said she'd like to buy one. I sold her the ring and I can only assume she had the same issue as everyone else who has handled copper and it probably tarnished and stained her finger, although she never complained to me.

Fast forward 5 years later and I now have the tools, ability and knowledge to build much more complex jewelry and I thought I should do something to acknowledge my growth and show my appreciation for my first customer and supportive friend Kirsten. So I made this ring from Sterling Silver with her initial stamped into it and surprised her with it.

To make this ring, I used my hole punch to create a small silver disk. I then stamped a “K” into the disk. and soldered it to a piece of silver wire I had. I trimmed the ends to the appropriate length and soldered them together. I did a final sizing of the ring, put some blackening acid on the silver to give the “K” more definition. I then beveled the corners of the band and buffed the whole thing to a high polish.
